Double Tap! A Dark Portrait
I don’t want to say that we are a culture fascinated with violence. I don’t want to say that we glorify it.
I don’t want to say that we are immersing our children in a strange dichotomy where it is okay to learn about violence on tv and in stories but not to learn how to handle a gun properly. Where we can witness heart palpitating explosions and robotic demolitions but cannot show people an expression of love between two consenting adults. Where kids can figure out how bullets go in a gun but are never shown them how and why a condom works.
We show them a world where there are white hats and black hats, good versus evil, hate vs … what… happiness? Because it is almost never love. And, we are always the “good guys”.
But, the world is not binary. Nature is not binary. Our systems are not binary. Our choices are not binary.
Unless, of course, we choose to make them so.
Perspective is such a subjective thing.
Don’t you think so?
